Data Cabling

During construction of the “Base Building” cable support systems (catenary / cable tray) are installed. Then the cable is roughed in from the Comms Room shown left, to the location of the outlets (cable is usually left in the ceiling space to be “dropped” during fit out of the building. Base Building and Fit out can be carried out by two different construction companies, this can cause problems. The photo on the left shows all the cables appearing in the Comms room sorted into their respective looms. Cable tying is done with Velcro ™ to maintain the transmission characteristics of the cable).
